Clearinghouse
Referrals
Friends In Deed provides information and appropriate
referrals to clients for services provided by
other agencies, and to congregations seeking help
with requests that are coming into their church
offices. A How to Help seminar, outlining ways
to assist the needy, is offered every fall to
congregations, and a resource guide to community
services is mailed twice yearly. You can also download our guide to free or low-cost clothing and household items. |

Furniture
Program
Under the direction of our Furniture Coordinator,
FID operates a large furniture program that matches
donors with needy families. Volunteers operate
the furniture phone line and provide pick-up and
delivery in cases where the recipient is not able
to pick up on their own.

Car
Repair and Donation Program
With grant funds, minor car repairs are done for
those who use their cars for transportation to
work or regular doctor's appointments. FID is
one of only three programs in Washtenaw County
that provides funds for car repairs. FID also
accepts donated cars. Car are assessed by a mechanic
before they are passed on to clients who need
them for work.
